iOS Representing 81% of the flaws in the smartphone market
In recent years, 210 vulnerabilities have been discovered in the iOS
system, reaching nearly 81% of market shares at the level of vulnerabilities. Windows
Phone, Android and BlackBerry add up to 19%.
According to a study by SourceFire, Apple would concentrate 81% of the
flaws of the mobile world against only 19% for its competitors. No less than
210 vulnerabilities were discovered in smartphones headed, reaching nearly 81%
of market shares at the level of vulnerabilities. This is much more than
Windows Phone, Android and BlackBerry combined, which together, add up to 19%.
Phil Schiller liked to denounce Android as a bone teeming with faults and
viruses. However, a study published early March would indicate quite the
opposite attributing nearly 210 faults to the Cupertino, which is roughly more
than all its competitors together.
it is not about viruses, malware: the App Store is well protected and
unlike Android, do not filter malicious software that could potentially infect
your system. The study speaks of OS vulnerabilities, such as the one we
narrated a few days ago, to bypass the pass-code of the locked screen.
Apple's OS seems to be like a paradise for hackers, a very popular and
glorious target for its security. Much more than a system open to hackers like
Android, in which an intrusion would pass to be almost banal.
According to SourceFire, the aura of security surrounding iOS would be one
of the major motivations of evil geniuses. Indeed, it would be more glorifying
for them to find flaws in this ultra closed and protected OS in the open and
easy access system of Android.
In an interview with the ZDNet Asia site, Yves Younan, the head of this
study, said he was "surprised" by the results. He was also curious
that although Apple is increasingly strengthening its OS, more flaws are being
discovered year after year.
