Is often done through phishing (with often unwanted emails that we must not answer). However, today we discover a new method that does not please at all because it proves that it is almost even easier than phishing.
The technique is quite simple and only requires your phone number and your email address. Indeed, the first step is to send an SMS to the victim, coming from an unknown number. In this SMS, the hacker pretends to be Google. He declares to the victim that another SMS will be sent, containing a code. The victim must, according to the instructions of the hacker, return this code. The code in question is the one used in the password change procedure. Then, the hacker, having started the process of changing the password of the victim, is able to change the password. The hacker then connects naturally to the account of the victim.
The method is so simple that one could fall victim to it without even realizing it. Many not very conscientious people could be had (who would not trust Google, at the same time?). But at the same time, why answer a Google message if you have not entered any registration or modification process on your Gmail account?
